Congratulations to our member Constantin Bratianu on his recent book Organizational Knowledge Dynamics: Managing Knowledge Creation, Acquisition, Sharing, and Transformation published by IGI Global. The book discusses the dynamics of knowledge-intensive organizations, whose understanding is a crucial first step in establishing a strong knowledge base for any company. The book introduces the idea that organizational knowledge is composed of three knowledge fields: cognitive knowledge, emotional knowledge, and spiritual knowledge. For further details see here.

This year our Association was asked to collaborate on the organization of a Doctoral Workshop to be held at Ulster University on 31st August, the day before the 17th European Conference on Knowledge Management. Knowledge Management is not, certainly, a mature field, and there are more open questions than definitive answers: this is clearly a challenge for research and practice, but this is also the reason for its appeal among senior and young researchers. The workshop title “So what is Next on the KM Horizon?” sounded quite evocative, and surely appropriate for encouraging a lively debate involving the participants – about 30 people including PhD students, senior researchers, and IAKM members. Indeed, to promote the active involvement was exactly the purpose of the organizers - Sandra Moffett (Ulster University, UK), Alexeis Garcia-Perez (Coventry University, UK) and Ettore Bolisani (University of Padova, Italy), all members of the IAKM Board.
Report from the Workshop can be found here.
Photos from the workshop can be found here.
A Special Track on “KM in Education and Education in KM” was organized at ECKM 2016 in Belfast (co-chairs: Sandra Moffett, Alexeis Garcia-Perez and Ettore Bolisani). 13 papers were submitted and subjected to a careful revision. Those accepted were presented at the Conference and, among these, the track Chairs selected the BEST PAPER AWARD winner and the MOST INNOVATIVE AWARD winner. The winning papers will be subjected to a second review and will be invited to submit a revised version to two authoritative KM journals.
