Biography
Dr Peter Heisig is Professor for Information and Knowledge Management at the Department of Information Science at the University of Applied Sciences
Potsdam, Germany and his research interest is about knowledge in organizations and society since 1988. He studied social sciences (University Göttingen, Vienna, Bilbao) and received his PhD in Engineering from the Technical University Berlin. Peter founded the "Competence Center Knowledge Management" (Fraunhofer Society) and was responsible for KM projects with industry partners (Siemens, VOLKSWAGEN), service (SAS, German Air Traffic Control), public administration (Home office) and research organization. In 2002, he was appointed by the CEN and EU DG Information Society to serve on the expert group on CWA 14924 "European Guide to Good Practice in KM". He is a founding member of the Working Group Wissensbilanz which developed the first German Guideline “Intellectual Capital Statement – Made in Germany”. Before joining Leeds University Business School, he was Senior Research Associate at the University of Cambridge coordinating a large research project on Knowledge and Information Management with partners from academia and industry. Peter has published about 75 articles and papers, co-edited two books on KM and IC and is a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Knowledge Management and has been appointed Regional Editor of this journal since January 2016. Since 2011 Peter leads the Global Knowledge Research Network with partners in over 30 countries and has coordinated their first two research projects.

Research: Knowledge and Knowledge management concepts and KM Frameworks, Intellectual Capital, Socio-Technical enablers, KM processes and business processes, working processes, routines, KM methods and tools (GPO-WM Method), international comparative research in KM.
Teaching: Knowledge Management, Intellectual Capital, Qualitative Research Methods
Consulting: Consulting on KM and Intellectual Capital (currently: two Danish large corporations from the Oil & Gas and Food industry)
