A book titled ‘Introduction to Business Domains for Software Engineers’ was released on 17th Jun 2021 in Amazon Kindle platform by Manoj Kumar Lal. This book introduces a domain knowledge structure that can be used to learn multiple business domains. Using this structure, a fair understanding of insurance, banking, and automobile domains is developed via 150 products, 160 processes, and 570 business rules. The domain knowledge evolves to project knowledge that drives software development. This also strengthens KDD (Knowledge Driven Development) an emerging knowledge management framework that starts with domain knowledge. KDD is explained in his first book titled ‘Knowledge Driven Development – Bridging Waterfall and Agile Methodologies’. The diagram below is an attempt to demonstrate it. The book addresses learning and digitising domain knowledge related challenges both in academia and in industry. The domain knowledge structure is hierarchical. Initial levels of the hierarchy can be used to embed domain knowledge in academia and the detailed levels can be used in the live project delivery environment within the IT industry. It scientifically addresses a significant known gap of the academia and improves the employability of the graduating students. It can also be applied to improve the contextual knowledge of a project team in the IT industry, as domain knowledge is an integral part of software development process. Appropriate adoption of this structure can also help create more number of Subject Matter Experts (SME) available to an organisation which is a key limitation today. Submission by e-mail: [email protected] Editor-in-chief: Alexandra Zbuchea (IAKM member) The IAKM community is invited to contribute to IFKAD 2021 Special Track no. 21 - Managing Knowledge for Value Creation, Innovation and Inclusion within Smart and Sustainable Communities and Organisations (Research Area: KM and Sustainability). The organizers of the track are Mauro Romanelli (University of Naples Parthenope, Italy), Alexandra Zbuchea (National University of Political Studies and Public Administration, Romania) and Gabriele Palozzi (University of Rome Tor Vergata, Italy).
The track aims to stimulate the debate opening up to discussion on theoretical and empirical studies that elucidate how smart organisations and communities promote digitalisation and develop knowledge management issues for sustainable value creation, innovation and inclusion within collaborative, organisational and urban spaces. Consider the following open list of possible themes: social and technology-enabled innovation and inclusion, value creation within digital, social, business, knowledge-driven, healthcare, urban and cultural ecosystems, smart and sustainable communities and governments, digitalization for urban intelligence and social innovation, services coproduction, collaborative spaces, upskilling, quality of life and work environments. Deadline to submit your abstract proposal is 10 March 2021. https://www.ifkad.org/special-track/212021/ Our members, prof. Ettore Bolisani and Enrico Scarso would like to share their news with all the members: On 25th January 2021, we proposed an activity in collaboration between IAKM and the University of Padua, which we feel can be an interesting format for the future. Every year we organize a seminar for our PhD students in "Management Engineering", on the topic of Innovation Management & Knowledge Management. This year we were forced to move all the teaching activities online. We decided to make the most out of it, and organized a "remote workshop". We had the chance to invite our colleagues Constantin Bratianu, Juan Gabriel Cegarra Navarro, Alexeis Garcia Perez, Vincent Ribiere, Anthony Wensley and Malgorzata Zieba to give a presentation about their view of the proposed topic and a glance at their recent research. We take the opportunity to sincerely thank them all! Also, while in the past the attendance (in presence) was obviously limited to our students, being online we could open the workshop to all other PhD students and colleagues, members or friends of our Association. In the end, we had an attendance of almost 20 people. It was great! Maybe with some adjustments, we believe this format can be an interesting model for future activities of dissemination, especially in favour of youg researchers and practitioners, and add value to our Association. In addition, this can help our students to meet online, know each other's work, and collaborate. For those that are interested, presentations can be found at: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1t0B_P8LrzFVPcqkr3OaoFbfPnSFVNMGU?usp=sharing Some video recordings will also uploaded to our IAKM Youtube Channel. We invite you all to work with us in this project for some similar future initiatives! Ettore Bolisani and Enrico Scarso (University of Padua) TAKE 2021 Theory and Applications in the Knowledge Economy will take pace from July, 7th to 9th, in Porto, Portugal This year the Conference will have the main topic: TAKE 2021 – The Knowledge Economy in the Covid-19 Era.
Also, due to current and still unpredictable restrictions of movement the Conference might be face-to-face, hybrid, or online – all the three scenarios are being prepared. Crucially, the registration, already in use, allows the two options, presence or online. Finally, the online fee, in early bird or normal system, is 100 euros less than the presence fee. In terms of deadlines, there is already a considerable amount of contributions, enough to guarantee the conference, but this is Covid-19 environment and therefore the organizers decided to try a "second wave”. Our member, prof. Eduardo Tome encourages to submit the abstract before February 28th 2021. More details are available at: https://take-conference2021.com/ take-conference2021.com/ In September 2020, our member, Professor Eric Tsui from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University was the Platinum Winner of Best ELearning Initiative in the category Face-to-Face (F2F) Classroom Training Transfer to Virtual Classroom Training at LearnX Live! Award (Australia) and he was also member of a team nominated for the University Grants Committee (UGC) Teaching Award (Teams) in Hong Kong earlier this year. Congratulations!
The XVI edition of IFKAD on the theme of MANAGING KNOWLEDGE IN UNCERTAIN TIMES will be held in Rome (University of Rome Tre), Italy, 1-3 September 2021. Our member, prof. Giovani Schiumma and his colleagues are delighted to announce the CALL FOR TRACK PROPOSALS Deadline for track proposal submission: 30 November 2020. The purpose of IFKAD 2021 is to understand the role of managing knowledge to support organisations to navigate uncertain times. The scale and variety of disruptions affecting businesses are unprecedented and astounding. Disruptions and overlapping crises threaten the working mechanisms of socio-cultural and economic-production ecosystems, and organisational systems are challenged to understand how they can be sustainable, keep moving forward and growing. The current coronavirus pandemic has brought to the fore a new level of uncertainty and poses difficult and even unprecedented challenges for the sustainability of organisations and communities. The understanding of the strategies, projects and tools to manage the knowledge to navigate uncertain times is essential for survival and sustainability of any private, public and social organisation. The capacity of creating, employing and deploying knowledge is critical to protect the business and to guarantee that organisations can continuously contribute to the value creation dynamics of stakeholders’ wealth creation.
